Zoo Zoo... Vandalur Zoo

It was quite a long time plan that going to "Zoo". It is located just 20kms away and we were planning for past 4 to 5 months.  But somehow we made on this weekend. We were waiting Thamizhini to complete her one year, to take her anywhere outside, as she may not feel uncomfortable and here the Chennai climate is too hot always regardless of winter or spring. So I always think more than two times, before I take her out.
All set towards birds cage
The zoo is also known as "Arignar Anna Zoological Park" as it is named after Tamil politician Arignar Anna. The zoo has rescue and rehabilitation center, the park is the largest zoological garden in India and is home to seven white tigers. But we saw only one, and that was lying on the floor. :-)
Walking Happily...
We started from house around 2 O' clock and we entered to the park by 3. Thamizhini was so excited as we were telling her that we are going to zoo, and see lots of animals and birds. As she knew almost all the birds and animals from her book, we were telling her the names of birds and animals, like, we are going to see Lion, Tiger, Elephant, Peacock, Vulture and so on. She was literally excited to the core.
Giving Pose to her Mama!
She was ready to walk and we started walking towards birds first. Thamizhini's Dad and her Mama was so happy than Thamizhini, to see / show the first Animal. Any guess, why were they happy? Yeah, they are very happy because the first animal is "Chimpanzee". They both were showing Thamizhini that look at "Amma", amma is playing and hanging there. :P Grr.... But for that Thamizhini responded by showing me as , "amma inge iruku" :-)
Collaged! and Check out the Monkeys
There were lots and lots of birds, too much to see and all were like damn cute. We saw white and blue-green colored peacock, its plumage was so nice to see when it fans its tail (dancing).
We packed food for Thamizhini and took break for sometime to feed her. She was totally enjoying her lunch and liked to share with Deers over there. She was calling them and giving food like "Va... Va... Deer Mum Mum" :-)
Break!
There were battery cars which were operated to commute all over the zoo. We thought it would be better to walk so that we can spend time where ever we want, rather than just going to all the places in allotted time.
With Mama
Thamizhini was so happy to walk and explore each side of the road! Since there were no disturbance on the road, we felt happy to leave her on own. She was just running here and there and liked to relax for sometime.
Jolly walk!
When we were reaching towards Lion's cage, we heard Lion's roaring sound. It was too heavy to hear and we could realize the power in its voice. Thamizhini was bit scared to hear that, but later she started telling "Lion... Appa Singam" and she mimicked how her Appa roars like Lion as he used to say that he is a Lion :-D Grr....
Come fast Amma!
After seeing Lion, we went to see Tigers. A cute tiger was roaming here and there near its cage. It was very beautiful to see and we could realize its boldness in its walk. It never bothered about people, it was just walking and relaxing himself. Also we saw a cute White Tiger. It was just laying on the floor, wrecking himself and once in a while just looks up and turn to see around. Thamizhini was telling, "Appa tiger paduthruku, koongthu (for thoonguthu)" and shows by turning her head towards her dad's shoulder.
We saw Flamingo, this is the second time (Rain water is stagnated in front of our Apts, and there we saw two weeks before) we see flamingo, and it was making huge noise as there were more than 25 flamingo in one big cage. Her wings are so big and it folds its half of a wing inside when it sits. Thamizhini was seeing this for very long time, because other birds were alone one in the cage.
Nice to walk with Amma and Amatha!
There were lot other animals we saw. Elephants, Giraffe, Deer, Dotted deer, Zebra, (lazy) Crocodile and all variety of monkeys. We totally spent around 3 hours there, and as  closing time was nearing we marched towards "out". If we would have started bit early with packed food even for us, we could have stayed for some more time and relaxed in between the meal. My mother was totally tired to walk and even Thamizhini, at last she asked us to carry her.
Basically it was wonderful outing not only for Thamizhini, but for us too! There were lots and lots of families and even they have brought there babies, those who are not even 6months old. Hmm... I just thought of myself once before leaving that place.
